Needless to say there is a great interest in the appointment of
a new vicar and people are constantly asking the Ministry Team
and Churchwardens whether a new vicar will soon be with us. The
answer to this is “Not yet”. The appointment procedure is long
and involved but it is nearing completion and it is hoped that
we might be in a position to advertise the post in the early
Spring. This means that if we are fortunate enough to be able to
appoint straight after the interviews we may have someone in
post by July or August. All the services are covered until after
Easter and we are very grateful to those clergy (retired and
from Diocesan staff) who are helping us out – particularly Rev.
Bryan Pettifer who takes four services a month for us and our
Archdeacon, Ven. Christine Froude, who will be taking several
Holy Communion services in the Benefice during the next four
months. The Churchwardens in each parish have also made sure
that services run smoothly and they are to be thanked for all
that they do during a vacancy. Apart from that it is very much
‘business as usual’ for your Lay Ministers who between them
cover the other services and are also available if anyone wants
to contact them with a request for a visit, or with a problem or
some query.
