A Benefice Prayer :
Lord, let us not labour for
you in vain. Teach us to pray, deepen our fellowship,
enable our ministry,
strengthen our benefice, and nurture our children. That,
united in Christ, we might
indeed become a holy temple in which you dwell by
your Spirit. Amen.

Almighty God, whose only Son
has opened for us an new and living way into your
presence: give us pure hearts
and steadfast wills to worship you in spirit and in truth;;
through Jesus Christ your Son
our Lord. Amen.
During the week, please pray

-for all those who share in
the Church’s ministry to our parishes and
communities ( the Benefice
Ministry Team meets on Monday).
-(in the words of the Bible
Reading Fellowship Prayer) that "all who prayerfully
read your word will deepen
their fellowship with each other through your love"
(Home Groups resume meeting
this week).
- for the many victims of
natural disasters throughout the world, and for the
agencies that seek to provide
both for their immediate needs and long-term
recovery.

God,who in generous mercy sent
the Holy Spirit upon your Church in the burning fire
of your love: grant that your
people may be fervent in the fellowship of the gospel that,
always abiding in you, they
may be found steadfast in faith and active in service;
through Jesus Christ your Son
our Lord. Amen

O Lord, we beseech you
mercifully to hear the prayers of your people who call upon
you; and grant that they may
both perceive and know what things they ought to do,
and also may have grace and
power faithfully to fulfil them; through Jesus Christ your
Son our Lord, Amen.
During the week, please pray

-for Bishop James - the new
Bishop of our link Diocese of Mukono in Uganda
- who will be consecrated on
Sunday - and the clergy and people he will serve.
- for our local branch of the
Mothers Union and also the wider work of the MU
supporting family life around
the world ( the MU holds a Communion service
on Tuesday).
- for the people of the
parishes of Tormarton and Marshfield, their PCC’s and
Churchwardens (the PCC’s meet
this week).
- for
world leaders gathering this week in New
York for a special UN meeting
to mark 10 years since they
agreed to “spare no effort” to free people from
extreme poverty. Pray that
they they, and the nations they represent, will
recommit to “making poverty
history”.

Sunday after Trinity
Almighty God, you have made us
for yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find
their rest in you: pour your
love into our hearts and draw us to yourself, and so bring
us at last to your heavenly
city where we shall see you face to face; through Jesus
Christ you Son our Lord. Amen.
During the week, please pray

- for the Governors of
Marshfield Primary School, as they meet on Tuesday.
- for the work of the Pappa
Fund in Rameswararn (S. India). Remember
Joseph their field worker and
the management committee.
- for a new sense of wonder
and excitement at being part of God’s global
family. When we pray, we are
not alone. Our prayers are added to those of
God’s people across the world. |
