A Benefice Prayer:
Lord, let us not labour for you in vain. Teach us to pray, deepen our
fellowship, enable our ministry, strengthen our benefice, and nurture
our children. That, united in Christ, we might indeed become a holy
temple in which you dwell by your Spirit. Amen.
Friday 1st August:
Pray for our incumbent, Revd Simon Drew and our Assistant Minister ,
Revd Peter Ostli-East, and for their ministry amongst us.
Saturday 2nd August:
Pray for the work of the Genesis Project in Bath among the homeless
people. Remember the team from Marshfield who will be serving lunch and
tea at the Sunday Centre tomorrow
Sunday 3rd August: Eleventh Sunday after Trinity
O God, you declare your almighty power most chiefly in showing mercy and
pity: mercifully grant to us such a measure of your grace that we,
running the way of your commandments, may receive your gracious
promises, and be made partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus
Christ your Son our Lord, Amen.
Monday 4th August:
Pray today for the parish of Cold Ashton, for its PCC, and their
churchwarden Monica Green.
Tuesday 5th August:
Pray for the Anglican Church in Uganda and in particular our link
diocese of Mukono. Remember Bishop Paul as he leads the church in that
place
Wednesday 6th August:
Today, the Church remembers the Transfiguration of our Lord. Pray that
we may be given “strength to hear his voice and bear our cross” (from
the Collect for the day)
Thursday 7th August:
Pray for the work of "chaplains" - in hospitals, in prisons and in
places where people work.
Friday 8th August:
Pray for God's healing for all those who suffer in body, mind or spirit,
especially those we know and love.
Saturday 9th August:
Today, the Church remembers Mary Sumner, founder of the Mothers Union.
Pray for our local branch and also the wider work of the MU supporting
family life around the world.
Sunday 10th August: Twelfth Sunday after Trinity
Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we
to pray and to give more than either we desire or deserve: pour down
upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which
our conscience is afraid and giving us those good things which we are
not worthy to ask but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ
your Son our Lord, Amen

Pray today for the parish of West Littleton, for its PCC and for their
churchwardens Richard Meade and David Adams.
Tuesday 12th August:
Pray for the children who have left Marshfield School for secondary
schools and also for those starting primary education there in
September.
Wednesday 13th August:
Today, the Church remembers Florence Nightingale. Pray for all who care
for others - at home, in the community, or in hospital or hospice.
Thursday 14th August:
Tomorrow, the Church remembers Mary, mother of Jesus. Pray that “ we who
are redeemed by his (Jesus’s) blood may share with her in the glory of
your eternal kingdom” (from the Collect for the day)
Friday 15th August:
Pray that we may all learn to "live more simply so that others may
simply live"(Christian Aid)
Saturday 16th August:
Today, Marshfield holds its Village Day. Give thanks and pray for all
those individuals, organisations and businesses that maintain and
support the life of our local communities
Sunday 17th August: Thirteenth Sunday after Trinity
Almighty God, who called your Church to bear witness that you were in
Christ reconciling the world to yourself:help us to proclaim the good
news of your love, that all who hear it may be drawn to you; through him
who was lifted up on the cross, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pray for Harriet Ladenburg and Justin Delap who were married on Saturday
at St Mary’s Church, Marshfield
Tuesday 19th August:
Pray today for the parish of Tormarton, for its PCC, and their
churchwarden Jane Gent
Wednesday 20th August:
Today the Church remembers William & Catherine Booth, founders of the
Salvation Army. Pray for the world-wide Church as it seeks to meet
peoples material and spiritual needs today.
Thursday 21st August:
Pray for parents as they face the challenges and dilemmas of bringing up
their children. Pray also for grandparents as they continue to support
their own children.
Friday 22nd August:
Pray for our diocesan Bishop, Mike Hill, our suffragan Bishop Lee
Rayfield, and for the staff that support them in leading this diocese
Saturday 23rd August:
Tomorrow, the Church remembers the Apostle Bartholomew. Pray that we
“may love that word which he believed, and may faithfully preach and
receive the same” (from the Collect for the day)
Sunday 24th August: Fourteenth Sunday after Trinity
Almighty God, whose only Son has opened for us an new and living way
into your presence: give us pure hearts and steadfast wills to worship
you in spirit and in truth;; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.

Tuesday 26th August:
Pray for the Christian church in Nepal, the only Hindu kingdom in the
world. Remember particularly the work of the International Nepal
Fellowship in that country.

Remember today the work of the youth organisations in our community.
Pray for SKIDZ - the new Christian-based initiative for teenagers
starting in September

Pray for other Christians who live in our community but are not part of
our parish churches. Remember particularly those at Marshfield Chapel.

Pray for our Lay Ministers- Aurea Hart, Mike Strathdee & John Woodham.
Saturday 30th August:
Today, the Church remembers the spiritual writer John Bunyan. Give
thanks for all those whose writings have guided and inspired us.
Sunday 31st August: Fifteenth Sunday after Trinity
God,who in generous mercy sent the Holy Spirit upon your Church in the
burning fire of your love: grant that your people may be fervent in the
fellowship of the gospel that, always abiding in you, they may be found
steadfast in faith and active in service; through Jesus Christ your Son
our Lord. Amen. |
