                                                     PRAYER DIARY

                                                            JUNE 2007

A Benefice Prayer:
Lord, let us not labour for you in vain. Teach us to pray, deepen our fellowship, enable our ministry, strengthen our benefice, and nurture our children. That, united in Christ, we might indeed become a holy temple in which you dwell by your Spirit. Amen.

Sunday 1st June: Second Sunday after Trinity
Lord, you have taught us that all our doings without love are nothing worth: send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whoever lives is counted dead before you. Grant this for your only Son Jesus Christ’s sake, Amen.

Monday 2nd June:
Cold Ashton PCC meets today. Pray for the parish , for its PCC, and their churchwarden Monica Green.

Tuesday 3rd June:
Our Study Groups meet today and tomorrow. Pray (in the words of the Bible Reading Fellowship Prayer) that "all who prayerfully read your word will deepen their fellowship with each other through your love"

Wednesday 4th June:
The Parents Group meets this morning. Pray for parents as they face the challenges and dilemmas of bringing up their children. Pray also for grandparents as they continue to support their own children.

Thursday 5th June:
Pray that we may all learn to "live more simply so that others may simply live"(Christian Aid)

Friday 6th June:
Pray for all those who feel “trapped” - by illness, addictions, poverty, broken relationships or in other ways - that they may find the freedom that God longs to give them when they reach out to him.

Saturday 7th June:
Pray for the Christian church in Nepal, the only Hindu kingdom in the world. Remember particularly the work of the International Nepal Fellowship in that country.

Sunday 8th June: Third Sunday after Trinity
Almighty God, you have broken the tyranny of sin and have sent the Spirit of your Son into our hearts whereby we call you Father: give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service, that we and all creation may be brought to the glorious liberty of the children of God; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, Amen.

Monday 9th June:
Give thanks and pray for all those individuals, organisations and businesses that maintain and support the life of our local communities.

Tuesday 10th June:
Pray for our incumbent, Revd Simon Drew and our Assistant Minister , Revd Peter Ostli-East, that they might be effective ministers of the Gospel amongst us.

Wednesday 11th June:
Today, the Church remembers Barnabas the Apostle. Pray that God will “help us, by his example, to be generous in our judgments and unselfish in our service” (from the Collect for the day)

Thursday 12th June:
Pray for other Christians who live in our community but are not part of our parish churches. Remember particularly the congregation at Marshfield Chapel and their pastor Peter Foster.

Friday 13th June:
Pray for the work of the Genesis Project in Bath among the homeless people. Remember those from Marshfield who will be serving lunch and tea at the Sunday Centre this weekend, and those who help in other ways.

Saturday 14th June:
West Littleton’s Open Gardens Weekend starts today. Pray for the parish, for its PCC and for their churchwardens Richard Meade and David Adams.


Sunday 15th June: Fourth Sunday after Trinity
O God the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that with you as our ruler and guide we may so pass through things temporal that we lose not our hold on things eternal; grant this, heavenly Father, for out Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, Amen.

Monday 16th June:
Pray for our Lay Pastoral Assistants - Pam Mills, Monica Green and Jean Purnell - as they share in the pastoral ministry in our 4 parishes

Tuesday 17th June:
The Mothers Union meets today. . Pray for our local branch and also the wider work of the MU supporting family life around the world.

Wednesday 18th June:
Pray for "chaplains" who serve in hospitals, in prisons and the workplace.

Thursday 19th June:
“Time Apart” takes place this evening. Pray that, in our busy lives we may find time to “be still and know that I am God”.

Friday 20th June:
Pray today for the work of Marshfield primary school, its pupils, teachers and headteacher, Mrs Kay Petiffer.

Saturday 21st June:
Pray for the Anglican Church in Uganda and in particular our link diocese of Mukono. Remember Bishop Paul as he leads the church in that place.

Sunday 22nd June: Fifth Sunday after Trinity
Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified: hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people, that in their vocation and ministry they may serve you in holiness and truth to the glory of your name; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.

Monday 23rd June:
Bristol’s Diocesan Conference starts today. Pray for our Bishops, Mike Hill and Lee Rayfield, and for all who support them in leading this diocese.

Tuesday 24th June:
Today, the Church celebrates the birth of John the Baptist. Pray that God may “lead us to repent according to his teaching, and ....constantly to speak the truth, and patiently to suffer for the truth’s sake” (from the Collect for the day)

Wednesday 25th June:
Pray for the work with children through the Kids Club and "The Bunch" in Marshfield. Pray for the leaders, the children and their families.

Thursday 26th June:
Pray today for the parish of Tormarton, for its PCC, and their churchwarden Jane Gent

Friday 27th June:
Marshfield holds its Church fete tomorrow. Pray for the parish, for its PCC, and their churchwardens Eric Pullin and Paul White.

Saturday 28th June:
Felicity Berry and Gary Bond will be married today at St Mary Magdalene Church, Tormarton. Pray for them and their families.

Sunday 29th June: Sixth Sunday after Trinity
Merciful God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as pass our understanding: pour into our hearts such love towards you that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, Amen.

Monday 30th June:
Pray for Simon Drew, Peter Ostli-East, Aurea Hart, Mike Strathdee and Andrew Gammie when they meet today as the benefice Ministry team.
